Gold Pendant
This past Christmas my siblings and I gave my mom a very special gold pendant. For years, mom and dad both carried a gold coin in their pocket that they bought not long after they married. Realistically dad carried it in his pocket and mom had it in her wallet. The gold coin stayed with them from various moves and different trials and triumphs that they faced in their lives. My dad’s coin was smooth from all the years of putting his hand in his pocket and rubbing it.
About a year ago, mom lost her coin. We still aren’t sure how, but one day she looked in her wallet and it was gone. She was devastated to say the least since the coins were no longer available for purchase. Mom was heartbroken but over the months it faded in our thoughts. At least it did until I was doing a little early Christmas shopping online and came across what appeared to be the same gold coin in a setting for a gold pendant. I called my brother and sister both and told them to check their email that I sent them a link to a gold pendant that I thought we needed to order for mom. Sure enough, it was the exact coin, and now mom wears it around her neck in the form of a gold pendant. She cried when she saw the gold pendant and said she’d try to make sure this one never got lost.
