This morning I was chatting to a friend and she asked if I’d noticed her gold pendant. I actually hadn’t noticed because it was tucked away into her sweater, but when she pulled out the gold pendant, I couldn’t help but admire it. I could see by the expression on her face that she was very happy and proud about the gold pendant, a simple, but very beautiful cross.
She said that she’d been talking to her husband for some time about her faith and how much it played an important role in her life. One day he came home and handed her two boxes. One contained the gold pendant with the cross, and the other contained a similar cross, but in silver. She said she had not cried as much in years as she did when she opened the box and the gifts of love from her husband. She says that the pendant gives her the opportunity to carry something so precious to her close to her heart, but it also sometimes opens the door for her to share her story with others. I could see then why it was so important to her.
